New Delhi, Jun 5 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Union Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar said the country is proud of our rich biodiversity and urged people to do something environment-friendly.
“We are proud of our rich biodiversity on this world environment day. As this year’s theme is biodiversity. Plant a tree, ensure its growth wherever possible. This will create oxygen bank for life. This is how we can grow our tree cover and create additional carbon sink”, Mr Javadekar tweeted moments before starting ‘virtual celebration’ Wednesday morning.
On virtual celebration, organised by Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change is underway and the Union Minister will address the meeting shortly.
“We must save electricity and generate electricity through solar or wind so that we will save carbon emission. We need to use efficient electrical lights, LED lights for saving electricity and switch off the plugs whenever we go out”, Mr Javadekar urged.
