Agartala, Aug 31 : When the BJP Jambo team led by party general secretary Dilip Saikia arrived here cementing the dissidence among MLAs and party leaders by expanding cabinet, the ruling party received a serious jolt as more than 600 BJP supporters and hardcore grass-roots leaders of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s constituency Banamalipur in the city have joined Trinamool last evening.
The Trinamool leader Subal Bhowmik claimed that the newcomers in their party have included the portfolio holders of BJP Banamalipur Mandal and core team members of Chief Minister Deb and the important BJP party functionaries of other nearby constituencies.
They deserted the party alleging autocratic rule of the Chief Minister and his vendetta politics, which has already created a massive anti-incumbency against the government.
“We have built the party tirelessly over last two decades when Biplab Kumar Deb or none of today’s leaders did not exist and we are the worst sufferers of CPM’s atrocities. But after Deb becomes CM, he has taken all corrupt and CPM guys into board who have been looting the state and we are being subjugated. The CPM beneficiaries who have not taken the front seats everywhere are trying to teach us integral humanism and they are getting importance to CM and the party. So, we do not need for such a party and leaders,” said Nantu Saha, a veteran BJP activist after joining TMC.
Saha alleged that Chief Minister has built up a chain of corruption through one of his OSD who was appointed flouting rules and became the super-powerful man in the administration with the direct patronage of Biplab Deb. “The CM hates the people of Tripura and he is giving all contracts to outsiders, bringing Group C & D people from outside, the entire business has been shifted to Delhi and entrepreneurs of the state are dying,” he stated.
The TMC leader Subal Bhowmik however, claimed by the next six months all the middle level and lower level people of BJP will join Trinamool to strengthen the hand of Mamata Banerjee for 2023 and three months before the elections all the top-level leaders would join TMC to uproot BJP from Tripura. The people who had fought to bring BJP in power, all of them are the target of Biplab Deb now and leading a miserable life in their land by the outsiders, Bhowmik alleged.
“If this government continues the term, Tripura will see a civil war,” Bhowmik added.
