AAP candidate tries to self-immolate after rejection of nomination papers

Muzaffarnagar, Jan 24 : An Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidate tried to self-immolate on Monday, after his nomination papers were rejected during scrutiny for the Assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh.

According to police here, nomination papers of Joginder Singh, AAP candidate from Meerapur Assembly segment, were rejected during security at the Collectorate. Thereafter, he tried to self-immolate by pouring oil, but timely intervention of police saved his life.

The former Army personnel alleged that his nomination was rejected without giving any reasons by the authorities. He demanded from the District Magistrate to recheck his papers.
