Ajit Pawar calls for convening assembly session for relief to ryots

Mumbai, July 25 : The leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar on Monday demanded to call a session of the Legislative Assembly to provide relief to the farmers and citizens in view of the loss of agricultural land and crops due to heavy rains and floods.

He has written to both the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis, and has brought to the attention of the state administration the seriousness of the damage caused in the state.

He mentioned that ,Vidarbha, Marathwada and other parts of the state affected by heavy rainfall should be declared wet drought.

Since June 20 onwards rains continuously lashing in the state till today. I have personally inspected some parts of the state and am in constant contact with all the Collectors and Divisional Commissioners of the state through telephone.

Due to this heavy rain, the crops planted by the farmers have been severely damaged. In some places, the land has been washed away due to rain and the house has also collapsed on a large scale. Immovable property has also been extensively damaged,he further mentioned.

Works of Panchnamas could not be held due to continuous rains. In the past, a large number of farmer suicides have been observed in both these divisions where farmers are in trouble.

On behalf of the members of the legislative assembly of all the parties, that on 1st August 2022 or on a date convenient for the government during this week, a session should be called and help the farmers who are in trouble through the discussion of the people’s representatives of the legislative assembly and understand the right direction of the government’s policy in terms of losses,added Mr Pawar.
