Ankita Raina puts up good fight before losing to third seed Caroline

Limoges (France), Dec 15 : Ankita Raina put up a strong fight against third seed Caroline Garcia of France before going down fighting 6-7 (7) 6-4, 4-6 in the singles first round of the $125,000 WTA Open BLS de Limoges (France).

The evenly fought match lasted two hours and 53 minutes. Though Ankita kept her first serve 64 percent in, she committed six double faults, including four in the third and deciding set. She served a lone ace.

Caroline unleashed nine aces and committed four double faults. The French player kept 65.5 percent of her first serve in. Anikta won 70 percent points (80/125) on her first serve and 63.6 percent points (19/45) on second serve. Caroline won 73.6 points (53/72) on her first serve and 42.1 percent points (16/38) on second serve.

Ankita converted four of 10 breakpoints and Caroline converted four of 11 breakpoints.

Ankita made her exit from the tournament after being beaten in the doubles quarter-final. Anita partnered Kimberley Zimmermann of Belgium. The Indo-Belgium pair were beaten by top seeds Monica Niculescu of Romania and Vera Zvonareva of Russia 6-0, 6-4 in 61 minutes.
