Kolkata, Nov 12 : The West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Friday adopted a resolution restoring Bally Municipality (Howrah district) separating it from Howrah Municipal Corporation.

Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Chandrima Bhattacharya said separating Bally municipality from Howrah Municipal Corporation is aimed at providing better services to the people of Bally.

The separation means the Howrah Municipal Corporation, which goes to poll on December 19 along with Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), will have only 50 wards from the existing 66. Bally had its own municipality until it was merged with Howrah in 2015.
