Bangladesh eases COVID-19 restrictions

Dhaka, Aug 11 : After 19 days, the restrictions in the country were relaxed like public transport has been plying on the roads since Wednesday morning.

Besides, financial institutions including government and non-government offices have been introduced. However, even though everything has been opened, the educational institutions are still closed. Tourist centers, resorts, community centers and recreation centers are closed.

As per the government decision, from today all government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices, banks and financial institutions will remain open following the hygiene rules. The Bangladesh Supreme Court will issue necessary directions to keep the court running.

Besides, shopping malls, markets and shops can be kept open from 10 am to 8 pm following the hygiene rules. All kinds of industries will continue. Food shops, hotels and restaurants can be kept open from 8 am to 10 pm with half the seats vacant. However, in all cases, besides ensuring the wearing of masks, the hygiene rules framed by the Department of Health must be followed properly.

Restrictions on corona infection begin July 1. However, on the occasion of Eid, the restrictions were relaxed from midnight on July 14 to 6 am on July 23. After Eid, the ban was enforced again from July 23 to August 5. Later it was extended till August 10.
