Bangladeshi diplomat recalled from Jakarta

Dhaka, Aug 2 : Bangladesh has recalled Kazi Anarkali, Deputy Chief of Mission of its embassy in Jakarta, at the request of the Indonesian government after marijuana was allegedly seized at her home.

According to foreign ministry sources, Indonesian drug control authorities raided Anarkali’s residence on June 5 this year. The diplomat used to share an apartment with a Nigerian national.

She was brought back to Dhaka at the request of the Indonesian government.

Bangladesh has asked Indonesia for a detailed explanation on the matter.

In 2017, Anarkali was brought back from the US after her maid servant went missing.
