Bengal Assy Poll : Polling agent dies of cardiac arrest in booth, 16.15 per vote poll in first two hrs

Kolkata, Apr 17 : A polling agent at Kamarhati assembly booth in N 24 Parganas died of cardiac arrest in the first hours of the polling in the 5th phase for 45 seats in West Bengal, while
some 16.15 per cent vote was polled in first two hours, which overall was peaceful so far.
Official sources said while Jalpaiguri district reported 18. 65 pc, Kalimpong 14 pc, Darjeeling 14.73 pc, North 24 Parganas 15.13 pc, East Bardhaman 16.06 pc and Nadia 16.45 per cent vote was polled up to 9 am from 7 am.

The polling agent, whose identity was yet to be confirmed, at a booth of Kamarhati died of cardiac arrest where the poll was delayed for some time.
The EC has sought a report immediately.

A BJP polling agent was wounded when he was attacked with bricks before entering into his assigned polling booth at Saraitkriri in Burdman.
