Addressing a rally for the BJP candidates from Hooghly’s Dhaniakhali Ground, Mr Nadda said the record percentage ( over 84 pc) turn out of voters in the first phase showed that the people in the state have made up their mind for a change of government despite the ruling TMC and its leader ” Mamata Didi” allegedly was creating terror among the common people.

” This election is the election for ‘Asol Poriborton’. this election is to help the farmers and the youth. this election is for West Bengal to become ‘Sonar Bangal, ‘” said Mr Nadda.

The death of 84-year-old Shova Rani Majumdar at Nimta in North 24 Parganas this week showed the state of condition of ‘maa’ in the TMC’s Bengal, said the BJP leader. The widow died of her wounds this week after being beaten by a gang of goons at her home on February 26. She wanted to save her son, who is a BJP worker.

Meanwhile, a report from Nandigram said that the administration has section 144 Cr Pc on the eve of poll and began naka checking and aerial vigil to check any infiltration of miscreants.

Bengal is set to vote in the second phase of the Assembly elections on April 1, The focus is now on Nandigram as Mamata will take on her former aid Suvendu Adhikari, a BJP candidate.

Mr Nadda alleged besides the appeasement of the TMC government towards a section of society, the central funds provided were also siphoned.

” In the 13th Finance Commission, Rs 1.32 lakh crore was provided to Bengal.Under PM Modi and the 14th Finance Commission, Rs 4.48 lakh crore was provided for the development of Bengal, four times more than any previous allotment but where does that money go? ” asked Mr Nadda.

He said PM Modi wanted to serve the people of Bengal, but the engine of the state has become defective.

” Vote for BJP and put a double-engine government in the state. Let the money from the Centre be used on the ground for development,” said the BJP president, amid cheers of Jay Sree Ram from the people.

” Mamata di says she would distribute food grains to the poor during election campaigning. When PM Modi had sent food grains for the poor and needy of Bengal during Covid, what did the TMC goons do? These thieves are today making promises of distributing food grains,”alleged Mr Nadda.

“In Bengal, crime against women including attempt to murder, unsolved missing cases, acid attacks, domestic violence, all cases are increasing.

Those who keep saying ‘Maa Maati Maanush’, calling themselves mother, daughter and Didi of Bengal, have done nothing for women in the state,” he added.

He said the TMC government allegedly betrayed the people of Bengal as over 10,000 workers were left unemployed. Mamata di used to say she would open up the Dunlo industry, but in 10 years, there has been no change.”

Before concluding Mr Nadda said ” Mamata didi is losing Nandigram. This election tells us that Suvendu has accepted the challenge from Mamata Di and people of Nandigram are giving a clear message that TMC is going out of power in Bengal.”
