Biden, Indonesian prez to meet in US on Nov 12

Washington, Nov 11 : US President Joe Biden will receive his Indonesian counterpart, Prabowo Subianto, for a bilateral meeting on November 12 to mark the 75th anniversary of the US-Indonesian relations, the White House has announced.
“President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will host President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia for a bilateral meeting at the White House on November 12, 2024,” White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement published on the White House’s website on Sunday.
Biden and Subianto will discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between their countries as part of the bilateral Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“The leaders will coordinate on sustainable approaches to food security, the clean energy transition, democracy and pluralism, regional peace and stability, and people-to-people ties, as well as advancing our cooperation on humanitarian aid and disaster relief,” the statement read.
The US and Indonesian leaders will also pay tribute to the victims of the deadly 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, which was triggered by a magnitude 9.1 earthquake off the coast of Indonesia’s Sumatra and killed an estimated 230,000 across 14 countries.
