Bihar Legislature adjourned for the day after making obituary references

Patna, Nov 29 : The opening day of the brief winter session of Bihar Legislature was adjourned after making obituary references to all prominent personalities who passed away during the intervening period since last session of the house and taking up other businesses.

The proceedings of the Lower House began with the National Anthem after which Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha announced the names of Mr Prem Kumar, Mr Narendra Narayan Yadav, Mr Awadh Bihari Chaudhari, Ms Jyoti and Mohammed Ashfaq Alam as presiding officers for the current session of the house and also constituted the business advisory committee.

Deputy chief minister Tar Kishore Prasad tabled the second supplementary for the financial year 2021-2022 and other bills including Goods and Services tax Amendment Bill, Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill.

As soon as the Lower House assembled the speaker in his welcome address highlighted the importance of rights and duties saying that it was the responsibility of the members of the house and public representatives to strengthen the moral values along with strengthening the democracy. He said during the inaugural function of the centinary celebrations of Bihar Legislative Assembly building the public representatives had resolved for initiating mass awakening drive to inculcate moral and social values under the guidance of President Ram Nath Kovind.

Mr Sinha appealed to the members to discharge their responsibilities under the laid precedence to maintain the dignity of the house. He said that the conduct of ruling parties as well as opposition was important and hoped that both would discharge their responsibilities with constructive approach.

Later the house paid homage to the the MLA Musafir Paswan, former MLAs former MLA Sadanand Singh, Mithilesh Kumar Singh, Janardan Sharma, Gauri Shankar Nag Dansh, Hind Kesari Yadav,

former MLCs Balram Singh Yadav, Khalid Rasheed Saba and Ramji Prasad Sharma.

The members observed one minute silence in memory of the departed souls after which the lower house was adjourned for the day.
