New Delhi, Sep 10 : Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday announced lawyer Priyanka Tibrewal as its candidate for the by-poll from Bhabanipur, against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Banerjee needs to win the Bhabanipur election to keep her chief minister’s post. The Trinamool Congress chief was defeated by BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari in the assembly polls in Nandigram. Adhikari had quit TMC and joined the BJP in December 2020.
Tibrewal had joined BJP in 2014. In August 2020 she was made the vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in West Bengal.
She had fought the assembly elections from Entally in West Bengal, but lost to TMC’s Swarna Kamal Saha.
BJP also announced Milan Ghosh as it’s candidate from Samserganj, and Sujit Das from Jangipur.
