BJP MLA Kiran Maheshwari dies, leaders condole her death

Jaipur, Nov 30 : BJP’s Rajsamand MLA Kiran Maheshwari has died in a Gurugram hospital in Haryana, with leaders cutting across party lines condoling her demise. She was 59.

Rajasthan’s BJP leader Kiran, a three-term MLA, had tested positive for coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at the Medanta Hospital for over a fortnight. She passed away late Sunday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, BJP leader Vasundhara Raje, Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Chauhan, and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal were among prominent persons who conveyed their condolences on her demise.

Modi said in his message: “Pained by the untimely demise of Kiran Maheshwari ji. Be it as an MP, MLA or Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan government, she made numerous efforts to work towards the progress of the state and empower the poor as well as marginalised. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti.”

Gehlot said: “Saddened to know of the untimely demise of BJP leader and Rajsamand MLA Kiran Maheshwari ji. My heartfelt condolences to her family members and supporters in this most difficult time. May God give them strength to bear this loss. May her soul rest in peace.”

Former Chief Minister Raje said: “I was closely attached to Kiran. She strengthened the BJP and played the role of an active party worker throughout her lifetime. It will not be easy to fill the void in the organisation caused by her death. Today, she is not among us but she will always be alive in our memories.”

Shekhawat said: “Am deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of my elder sister Kiran Maheshwari, a senior MP, MLA and former Minister in the Rajasthan government and a senior and dedicated worker of the party. Her departure is not only a great loss for the organisation, but also to me. God bless the departed soul.”

Beniwal also posted his condolences on Twitter.
