Kolhapur, Dec 7 : The BJP district unit staged demonstrations on Tuesday afternoon outside the district collector office, alleging that the state government has not taken any action over the issue of reservation for OBC in local body elections.

BJP workers, led by its district president Rahul Chikode, along with other office bearers, gathered in front of district collector office and staged demonstrations shouting slogans against the state government, holding it responsible for not submitting the empirical data in the court in the stipulated time.

Addressing the workers, Mr Chikode said that in last 15 months, the court gave ample time for submitting empirical data but the government failed to submit it in time limit and now Supreme Court has issued stay order over the OBC political reservation.

As a result, now the state election commission can not permit to proceed with the election programme, which had already notified in the state, they said.

The BJP would continue its fight till MVA government is not given OBC political reservation in local body elections, he warned. Later, a delegation led by Mr Chikode, met district collector Rahul Rekhavar and handed over a memorandum to him.
