Bengaluru, Sep 7 : In all probability, the BJP and the JDS are all set to join hands to form majority in Kalaburagi city municipal corporation.
“There was no detailed discussion with the JDS delegation. I told them that we should walk and work together. They said that the local leaders will discuss and take a decision in this regard. Most likely, the BJP and the JDS will join hands and form the majority in Gulbarga (Kalaburagi) city corporation,” he told reporters ahead of his visit to Delhi.
A delegation of JDS legislators led by former chief minister HD Kumraswamy Monday had met Bommai, which became a subject of speculation in the light of fractured verdict given by people in Kalaburagi and Hubballi-Dharwad city corporation polls.
In Kalaburagi city corporation, BJP needs five seats to get a simple majority of 28.
In this regard, Bommai has expressed hope of getting support of one rebel BJP and four JDS councillors, which will pave the way for the party to form a majority.
The BJP has won 23 wards, Congress 27, JDS 4 and others in one in Kalaburagi corporation polls, according to state election commission.
In the 82-member Hubballi-Dharwad city corporation, BJP won in 39 wards, Congress 33 wards, Independents six wards, AIMIM three and JDS one.
BJP needs 42 seats to form a majority in HDMC and Bommai hopes to get the support of Independents and one JDS councillor in this regard.
