Mumbai, Apr 1 : The BSE Sensex on Thursday jumped 520.68 pts to close at 50,029.83 on the strength of IndusInd Bank, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Sun Pharma stocks.
The Nifty too rose by 176.65 pts to 14,867.35.
Sliding over 600 pts on Tuesday, the sensex opened higher by 359 pts to 49,868.53. It spurted 583 pts to 50,092.48 days high, before closing at 50,029.83, up by 520.68 pts from its previous close.
It registered days low at 49,478.53, declining 31 pts.
The sensex registered days high and low at 50,092.48 and 49,478.53 pts respectively.
The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,883.20 and 14,692.45 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that pushed the market up were Materials, Utilities, Metal, Power and Bankex stocks.
In scrips, Indusind Bank, Kotak Bank, Ultracemco, Bajaj finance and Axis Bank advanced while Hind Unilever, HDFC Bank, Nestle India and TCS slipped.
The Mid Cap rose by 1.66 pc and Small Cap by 2.05 pc.
In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.
There will be no trading in the stock market on account of ‘Good Friday’, broker said.
