CBI arrests police officer in bribery case

New Delhi, Aug 30 : Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Police Station Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person, a CBI statement said on Monday.

A case was registered on a complaint against the accused on the allegations of demanding bribe. It was alleged that in the month of March, complainant’s truck, in which cattles were being transported, was seized and an FIR logged in the matter.

The complainant alleged that the ASI demanded Rs 5,000 from him for not filing chargesheet.

On the basis of the above said complaint, a trap was laid and caught the accused while accepting bribe from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of ASI at Kathua. The accused was produced before Jammu Court.
