Mumbai, Sep 21 : Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Tuesday replied to state Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s letter stating that Maharashtra is soil of Maharaja Chhatrapati Shivaji, so women safety is first concern and state government is capable to protect women in the state.
Mr Thackeray said in his letter that you (Governor) as head of the state is concerned about the Sakinaka incident accepting that it was a very horrible incident and we all are concerned about it. The said incident was not limited upto Sakinaka, it is the national issue.
Therefore, it is need of the hour to call special Parliament session to discuss national women safety issues.People’s representatives of all state will raise their issues in the House, in that session Sakinaka issue will be discussed. So , he recommended to write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home
Minister Amit Shah to call a four-day long special parliament session to discuss national women safety issues.
Chief Minister stated that women security is a state issue and the day on which incident took place, Police had reached at the incident site within 10 minutes and nabbed the culprit, who is behind bars now. He held a meeting of police officers and instructed them to have a special cell for women Safety in all police stations.
Trial of Sakinaka case will be conducted in fast track court for speedy Justice to Victim. He also had meeting with family members of victim and assured them justice to victim.
If we call the special session in Maharashtra, it will disturb the smooth functioning of the state government as Opposition party leaders are already demanding for it.
