Bengaluru, Sep 21 : An acerbic poster war between ruling BJP and Congress has surfaced with both parties levelling corruption charges against each other here in Karnataka.
The Congress first put up the ante with “PayCM” posters at public places and in retaliation, BJP responded with QR code posters consisting of Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar on Wednesday.
The “PayCM” poster has a photo of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai with a QR code. If it is scanned it leads to 40%sarkar.com website.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials have been given the task of removing “PayCM ” posters from public places, which have caused a heavy embarrassment for the chief minister.
Taking a dig at the Congress, BJP MLC M Ravikumar said that the opposition party is using Bommai’s poster to carry out their campaign and they should pay the collected money to Rahul Gandhi.
“They should pay Siddaramaiah as he requires a watch (referring to the Hublot watch scandal) and also pay former Speaker Ramesh Kumar who once said the Congressmen have amassed wealth for four generations. There should be some dignity while criticising the chief minister,” he said.
Karnataka Congress media-incharge Priyank Kharge said the poster campaign is not personal but a reflection of what is being discussed in public.
The poster allegedly released by BJP consists of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar’s portraits and asks people to scan the QR code and root them out so that they are unable to loot the state and destroy the system.
The poster also has a text at the bottom, which reads, “Both are discussing how to destroy the state, how to spread lies and disturb the peace.”
Taking cognizance of the incident, Bommai has sought a report on surfacing of these posters from the home ministry.
For now, these posters in public places have been removed.
