New Delhi, Sep 14 : The Congress on Wednesday launched a scathing attack at the Modi government over reports of disengagement in Eastern Ladakh between India and China and called it a “compromise” by the ruling dispensation.
The party also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break his silence over China.
“China is playing a script. They come, they acquire a portion of our land, they stay there and then they push us from our patrolling point. Then our patrolling points get into buffer zone,” Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate told the media.
She was referring to Patrolling Point (PP) 15 in the Gogra-Hot Springs area in Eastern Ladakh.
She said: “This is an important issue about Patrolling Point 15 in Hot Springs. This is not the first time that we are disengaging and making buffer zone out of places where we are patrolling up to. This is not disengagement but compromise by the government.
“Why is our army being made to push back, or give up areas where we are patrolling till now? What about status quo ante of before April 2020? The PM had promised this country we will go for status quo ante. Why the status quo is not maintained,” Shrinate asked.
Attacking Modi, the spokesperson said” “The PM does not care about our territorial integrity about our national security. We are hopeful that in interest of country, the PM will break his silence on China. This is happening because Modi ji is not able to give up his love for China.”
Earlier in the day, the Congress tweeted: “China has refused to accept India’s demand of restoring status quo of April 2020. The PM has given 1000 Sq km of territory to China without a fight. Can GOI (Government of India) explain how this territory will be retrieved?”
