Congress : BJP govt is trying to bury Bitcoin case by administering drugs to Srikrishna

Bengaluru, Nov 12 : Congress leader and former IT Minister Priyank Kharge on Friday alleged that all BJP leaders are involved in the Bitcoin scam and hence the Basavaraj Bommai government is trying to bury the case by denying central agency probe and administering drugs to main accused Srikrishna.

“Srikrishna in his voluntary statement has said that he has 5,000 Bitcoins (worth Rs 2,500 crore). So, if he had these many bitcoins with him, why was this case not brought to the notice of CBI, I-T, ED and Interpol? They delayed it by three months. Why was there a delay in informing?” he said addressing a press conference here.

“Also, Srikrishna himself has submitted before the magistrate that he has been administered mind-altering drugs by police. If so, who was giving him drugs and why was Srikrishna given drugs?,” Kharge asked.

In a nutshell, Kharge said the purpose of the government administering drugs on Srikrishna and denying investigation by central investigating agencies, is to bury the case, because BJP leaders are involved in it, Kharge said. “The government is doing this, because everybody (BJP leaders) is involved in it,” he said.

The remarks came after Bommai hinted on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has backed him by asking him not to worry about the Bitcoin scam and focus on doing good work.

Bommai, who returned Thursday night, was on a two-day visit to Delhi.

“As far as my knowledge goes, the government has not referred the case to the central agencies – ED, CBI or to the Interpol for that matter. I do not know what the government has done.

“As per records, it has sent annexures to the ED. Not more than that. If the government has handed over the case to ED, CBI or the Interpol, it should make public the documents on it. Where are these papers?” Kharge added.

In this backdrop, Kharge demanded a probe into the scam by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

On November 10, Kharge had said that the scam would either dethrone the BJP government or Karnataka could see a third chief minister.

He also had urged the government to divulge the names of the culprits, to whichever party they belonged and punish them.

Kharge also had said the Congress would soon release the papers proving BJP leaders’ involvement in the scam.

Countering the allegations, BJP Minister KS Eshwarappa asked Congress leaders DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah and Kharge to release at least one paper proving BJP leaders involvement in the Bitcoin scam.

He alleged that the Congress leaders were indulging in hit and scoot politics which does not have any meaning and it amounts to blackmailing bureaucrats and police officers who are in the know-how of the people involved in the scam.
