Congress, BSP criticise UP govt over fertiliser crisis

New Delhi, Oct 28 : Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday criticized the Uttar Pradesh government on the death of two farmers in Bundelkhand region due to the non-availability of fertilizer and alleged the “anti-farmers” BJP government is not listening to the plights of the farmers.

Talking to Twitter, Priyanka Gandhi said the farmers are not getting the price of their crops and even when they are preparing the crops, they did not get the fertilizer too.

“Two farmers of Bundelkhand have died due to non-availability of fertilizers. But the anti-farmer BJP government has not listening to their plights.”

“There is an anti-farmer attitude in both their intention and policy,” she tweeted.

Priyanka Gandhi posted a video on her Twitter account of a lady who is saying that she is sitting, since 3 AM but did not get the fertilizers.

According to reports, in Lalitpur of Bundelkhand, there is a shortage of fertilizer in the district for the last one week, due to which the farmers have been facing a lot of problems.

On Tuesday, a farmer who was standing in a queue for fertilizer died due to a heart attack and while another hanged himself. However, it is not clear as of now what had triggered him to hang himself.

Earlier, BSP Chief Mayawati has also condemned the UP government over the death of farmers and asked the government to solve the fertilizer issue as soon as possible.

“In entire UP and especially in Bundelkhand region, the government is not able to provide food to the farmers on time. Due to which many farmers engaged in the line throughout the day died and also became very ill. The government should immediately solve this very sad and worrying serious problem,” she tweeted.
