Congress wants Naik to go as MLA

Panaji, Dec 29 : The Congress in Goa on Wednesday demanded that former Minister Milind Naik should resign as MLA so that a sexual harassment case against him can be taken to logical conclusion.

“Congress demands that Milind Naik resigns as MLA from Mormugao constituency so that … a fair probe is conducted without any interference from the government,” Goa Congress President Girish Chodankar said in a statement.

He alleged that the BJP government was using the police to intimidate the persons who exposed the sex scandal involving the MLA and former Minister Naik and attempting to destroy the evidence.

Chodankar claimed that the police officials entrusted with the investigation were tainted and wanted them replaced with other officials.

Naik resigned as a Minister after the Congress accused him of exploiting a woman.
