Puducherry, Feb 24 : As many as 28 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus and one died since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Wednesday, taking the tally of infection cases to 39,656 and death toll to 666 in the Union Territory.
According to the COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 2,069 swab sample tests conducted on Tuesday, 28 persons tested positive for the virus.
About 20 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, two in Karaikal and 6 in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 17 persons were discharged and 11 of them were from Puducherry region,four from Karaikal and two from Mahe region.
Presently, 90 patients are being treated in Puducherry region, three in Karaikal region one in Yanam region and 17 in Mahe region.
Another, 78 people diagnosed positive for COVID-19 were taking treatment under home isolation in Puducherry, Karaikal and Mahe regions.
So far, 39,656 persons were infected by the virus and of which 38,801 patients were treated and discharged, 666 people died so far and 189 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
A 79-year-old man Pitchamuthu with Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension,CKD and CAD died in Jipmer due to Covid Pneumonia, ARDS and Septic shock yesterday.
