Puducherry, Mar 3 : As many as 14 more persons were tested positive for Coronavirus in the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Wednesday, taking the tally of infection cases to 39,777 in the Union Territory. No deaths were reported during the period.
According to COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 1,556 swab sample tests conducted on Tuesday, 14 persons tested positive for the virus. Five new cases each were reported in Puducherry and Mahe regions and four in Karaikal region. In the last 24 hours, 20 persons were discharged and 9 of them were from Puducherry region, four from Karaikal region and seven from Mahe region.
Presently, 56 persons are being treated in Puducherry region, five in Karaikal region and three each in Mahe and Yanam regions. Another 101 persons diagnosed positive for Coronavirus were taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of the UT.
So far, 39,777 persons were infected by the virus and of which 38,940 patients were treated and discharged, 669 people died, and 168 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.68 per cent and the recovery rate is 97.90 per cent. About 11,461 persons were vaccinated for COVID-19 in the UT so far. This include 9,882 healthcare workers,1,283 frontline workers, 292 General Public (above 60 years) and four others.
