Counting of votes starts at 8 AM

Bhubaneswar, May 13 : The counting of votes for the byelection to Jharsuguda Assembly seat started at 8 AM on Saturday amid tight security.
The counting of postal ballot was taken up first and the counting of votes polled through EVM would start at 8.30 AM.
Three layer security was made for the smooth conduct of counting.
Counting is being conducted in 14 tables in 20 rounds.
Chief Electoral Office sources here said out of the total 221719 voters as many as 175616 voters, which is 79.21 per cent, have exercised their franchise on May 10 election.
The voters included 80.5 per cent male, 77.96 female and 19.06 per cent others.
The byelection to the Jharsuguda Assembly seat was necessitated following the murder of sitting BJD MLA and former Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das on January 29 last.
