COVID spike : Let streets be deserted, celebrate DMK’s poll win at home

Insight Online News

Chennai, Apr 30 : Pointing out to the various exit polls

predicting a landslide win for the party in the Assembly polls,

Opposition DMK President M K Stalin today urged the partymen

and alliance party cadres to celebrate the victory at their homes

during counting of votes on May two in view of the sharp rise in

corona cases.

In a statement here, he urged them not to crowd near counting

centres to celebrate the victory when the results are declared

on Sunday.

“We should not fall victim to the COVID-19 infection by crowding

near the counting centres to express our happiness. It’s better

we stay at home and celebrate our victory by viewing the results

on the media,” he said.

Advising the partymen to remain indoors, Mr Stalin said ‘let the

streets be deserted and hearts filled with joy’.

He said his main aim was the lives of party cadres rather than

celebrating the victory.
