New Delhi, Sep 20 : Farmers in the national capital will be able to receive a bio-decomposer solution from October 5 onwards, which will degenerate their crop residue and would prevent the practice of stubble burning, said Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Monday.
The minister said that the Delhi government will start the process of preparing bio-decomposer solutions from September 24 and would begin its supply from October 5.
“Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will initiate the centralised process of bio decomposer preparation at one of our facilities, which will be doubled by September 29. From October 5, we will start supplying the solution to the farmers as and when demand is raised,” Rai informed
“We had done a similar exercise last year where we started to prepare the solution from October 5. However, the farmers had suggested that we should have been begun the procedure a little early. So this year, we are preparing ahead and will start the process from September 24,” he added.
The minister said that the Delhi government has already tested the bio-decomposer last year and believes that can reduce the menace of air pollution caused by stubble burning during winters effectively.
The minister told reporters that a 25 member committee from Agriculture Department has been formed which will supervise the preparation and implementation of bio-decomposer spray.
Bio-decomposer is composed of a group of beneficial micro-organisms, which rapidly convert crop residues, animal waste, dung and other waste into organic manure. IFFCO Bio decomposer is an inexpensive and effective technology for agricultural waste and crop residue management.
