Discharge of flood water from Jayakwadi further reduced

Aurangabad, August 21 : As the speed of incoming flood water from upstream dams in Nashik and Ahmednagar district decreased, authorities on Sunday further reduced the discharge of excess water from the Jayakwadi dam to downstream of river Godavari.

According to bulletin issued at 6 am in the morning by the Command Area Development Authority (CADA), presently 29,870 cuses water per second is being admitted into the dam.

Hence the authorities have reduced the discharge of water by reducing the 18 opened doors heights from 1.5 feet to 1 feet and discharging 19,564 cuses of water per second.

Presently the dam is maintaining 94.61 percent stock with height of 1521.02 feet and 463.607 in length, they stated.

The District administration had already issued alerts in all the villages around bay of river and warned them to not venture near by river.
