Discharging of water from Jayakwadi dam continues for the 3rd day

Aurangabad, July 27 : Discharging of flood water from the Jayakwadi dam known as Nathsagar lifeline of Marathwada region continued for the third consecutive day here on Wednesday.

According to the Command Area Development Authority official bulletin, discharging of flood water is continuing here on Wednesday following heavy inflow of more than 29,000 cuses of water per second from upstream dams into Jaykawadi dam which was already filled up 92.16 percent compared to 36.11 percent last year.

As a precautionary measures irrigation department has stared to discharge water from July 25 onwards itself and is still continuing.

At present authorities have opened 18 of the 27 gates which is discharging 28,296 cuses of water per second into the basin of Godavri river, including 1,589 cuses and 550 cuses per second through Hydel projects and Right canal respectively.

A high alert has been sounded in villages around rivers in Jalna, Beed, Aurangabad and Parbhani by respective district administrations, he added.
