Dhaka, May 22 : Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, he does not know if the US sanctions will come or not.
They say they don’t do anything. The United States is giving thousands of sanctions, he said.
He said this in response to questions from reporters at a press conference on the Prime Minister’s visit to Qatar at the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday.
Pointing out that the sanctions would be unfortunate, the minister said, “I hope they (the United States) will come to their senses.” A representative from the United States came recently, and their comments were very positive. In that case, we do not know the information you have given.
Referring to the information given in a daily newspaper report as false, Abdul Momen said ,” it said that I worked as a lobbyist in a Chinese organization before becoming a minister, which is completely false. Rather, you can say that I have been in the United States all my life, I have worked there.
Recently, the US ambassador in Dhaka issued some warnings to its citizens about traveling to Bangladesh. In this regard, the foreign minister said, it is very sad. Elections will be held in the country after seven-eight months from today. Ask them why they gave this warning. There is no murder in our country, no one is shot dead. Why are people here angry at US citizens? I don’t know why they did it.
He further said, there is no reason why there will be violence in our country. Rather, some people should be warned when they go to the United States – they have to be careful when they go to shopping malls, schools, bars.
