Budapest, Apr 28 : The evacuation of Hungarian citizens from conflict-ridden Sudan has been successfully completed, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto said late on Wednesday on his Facebook page.
Speaking live from Laos, Szijjarto said the last two Hungarians, two children, had successfully left Sudan, thanks to cooperation with Sweden.
“They are now in Djibouti, safe,” he said, adding that they will receive temporary documents to enable their return home.
A total of 29 Hungarian citizens had been evacuated from Sudan in recent days, with the cooperation of several international partners, including the United Nations and other countries.
Deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which broke out on April 15, have reportedly killed hundreds of people and left thousands injured.
