New Delhi, Dec 21 : Farmers’ organisations protesting against the Centre’s three new farm laws started a day-long ‘relay’ hunger strike on Monday near the borders of the National Capital to pressurise the Centre to take back the laws which are seen by them as ‘anti-farmer’.
A total of 11 representatives of farmer organisations are participating in the fast. As per the organisations, everyday different farmer leaders will take part in the fast. Monday was the 26th day of the farmers’ protest at Delhi’s periphery.
Meanwhile, the Government once again sent a proposal to the farmers’ outfits for talks and requested them to tell the date and time for the next meeting for discussing the matter.
The Ministry of Agriculture has also sent a letter to 40 farmer organisations explaining the proposed amendments to the farm laws to which the government has agreed.
Farmers’ outfit have said that the Government’s proposal will be discussed on Monday and a decision will be taken thereafter.
