FIR lodged against policemen in Badaun

Unnao (UP), Sep 1 : An FIR was lodged against three named policemen and 20 unidentified for cane charging the workers of Bharatiya Kisan Union (Swaraj), a senior officer said here.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Kishore said that members of BKU-S reached Kadar Chowk where they had an altercation with the police personnel. “Police only used mild force to disperse the crowd. Cross FIRs have been lodged on the basis of complaints received from both the parties and the matter is being investigated,” he said.

However, office-bearer of BKU-S Avanish Kumar Singh said that the protest by the organisation was continuing in Badaun. He claimed that SP Kasganj had threatened to get the state in-charge of BKU-S Ashish Pandey arrested and sent to jail.

Singh said that agitated with this the workers of the organisation reached Kadar Chowk and staged a dharna on the road. He claimed that the police used force to disperse the crowd. “Agitated with the lathi charge the farmers have lodged a report demanding action against the police team,” he said.

While an FIR has been lodged against Sub Inspector Vikram Singh, policemen Vijendra Awasthi, Tyagi and 20 unidentified, another case has been lodged against 8 workers of the BKU-S and 150 unidentified.
