Four killed in fire at Well Treat COVID Hospital in Nagpur

Nagpur, April 10 : At least four persons were killed and several other injured in a massive fire erupted at Well Treat hospital in Wadi area on Amravati road in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district on Friday night , Chief fire officer Rajendra Uchke said.

According to the primary information the fire reportedly started from AC unit of ICU at second floor. This private hospital was currently treating the COVID-19 patients. Around 27 patients were shifted to other hospital due to safety precautions.

Fire was confined to second floor only . It did not spread elsewhere.

Staff of hospital tried to put out the fire with the help of fire extinguisher but could not succeed, Uchke said.

Uchke further said several fire tenders were rushed to the hospital and later succeeded to douse the blaze.

Meanwhile, many other patients were safely evacuated by fire personnel along with police and staff of the hospital, the official added.
