Four people, 150 sheep killed in accident in Maharashtra

Nanded/Nagpur, May 25 : At least four people and 150 sheep were killed when a truck carrying them hit a tiles-laden truck in Maharashtra’s Hingoli on Thursday, a senior police official told UNI.

According to the official, the accident took place at around 4 am on Thursday morning at Malegaon Phata on Nanded-Kalamnuri road.

Traffic movement on the route was disrupted for some time following the incident, the official said.

The truck transporting the sheep dashed against the other vehicle loaded with tiles from behind, in which as many 150 sheep and four people lost their lives, said the official.

The deceased were travelling in the truck carrying the animals, he said.

One person travelling in the same truck sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital in Nanded district for treatment, the official said.

The identity of the deceased and injured could not be ascertained immediately.

Later, police and locals cleared the road, where traffic was halted.

Police have registered a case and further probe is underway, he added.
