Hyderabad, Mar 31 : Customs Officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad near here have seized Gold and foreign currency worth about Rs 1.36 crore in two separate incidents on Tuesday night.
In the first incident, the Customs officials seized gold weighing 2.5 kgs, worth about Rs 1.15 crore from passengers who arrived at RGIA from Dubai by flight FZ-87790.
The gold, concealed in mixer-grinder motors and cutting appliances, being carried by the passengers in their check-in baggage.
The passengers were detained & further investigation is in progress, a Customs release from RGIA here said on Wednesday.
In another incident, the Customs officials in coordination with CISF booked a smuggling of foreign exchange case against a male passenger who is attempting to leave by FZ8776 flight to Dubai.
He was found to be carrying 30000 US dollars in a handbag. The currency equivalent to Rs 21.48 lakh was seized under Customs ACT 1962, the release added.
