Haryana election: 36.69 pc turnout till 1 pm

Chandigarh, Oct 5 : An estimated 36.69 percent voting was registered till 1 pm on Saturday in Haryana Assembly election which is witnessing a multi-cornered battle to pick 90 new legislators even as the ruling BJP seeks a third successive term and the Congress aims to return to power after 10 years.

Earlier, district-wise voting data till 11 am released by the election offices said 11.87 percent voting was recorded in Ambala, 9.72 percent in Bhiwani, 9.08 percent in Charkhi Dadri, 8.82 percent in Faridabad, 11.81 percent in Fatehabad, 6.10 percent in Gurugram, 8.49 percent in Hisar, 8.43 percent in Jhajjar, 9.54 percent in Kaithal, 11.10 percent in Karnal, 10.57 percent in Kurukshetra, 11.51 percent in Mahendragarh, 10.64 percent in Mewat, 12.54 percent in Palwal, 7.49 percent in Panipat, 9.27 percent in Rewari, 10.76 percent in Rohtak, 9.87 percent in Sirsa, 7.98 percent in Sonipat and 9.27 percent in Yamunanagar district.

According to the Election Commission office, there has been no report of any untoward incident or malfunctioning of the electronic voting machine from anywhere.

Constituency-wise data showed that in the first four hours of polling, the highest voting of 30.30 percent was recorded in Naraingarh seat and the lowest voting of 9.50 percent was recorded in Badkhal seat.

Apart from these, the turnout was 18.70 percent in Adampur, 18.90 in Ambala Cantt, 24.00 in Ambala City, 25.40 in Assandh, 22.60 in Ateli, 20.00 in Badhra, 25.00 in Badli, 17.70 in Badshahpur, 22.00 in Bahadurgarh, 21.74 in Ballabhgarh, 19.30 in Baroda, 25.00 in Barwala, 21.20 in Bhawal, 27.00 in Bawani Khera, 24.30 in Beri, 21.90 in Bhiwani, 21.60 in Dabwali, 20.20 in Dadri, 17.00 in Ellenabad, 20.00 in Faridabad, 25.38 in Faridabad NIT, 26.00 in Fatehabad, Ferozepur Jhirka, 29.10 in Ganaur 21.00 and 22.00 in Garhi Sampla.

The turnout in the first four hours was 28.70 in Dharaunda, 21.40 in Gohana, 21.00 in Guhla, 17.00 in Gurugram, 27.60 in Hansi, 25.40 in Hathni, 23.50 in Hisar, 28.21 in Hodal, 28.00 in Indri, 28.30 in Israna, 24.60 in Jagadhri, 23.10 in Jhajjar, 26.00 in Jind, 30.00 in Julana, 22.00 in Kaithal, 26.83 in Kalanaur, 21.80 in Kalanwali, 22.00 in Kalayat, 12.02 in Kalka and 17.00 in Karnal

In Kurukshetra it was 16.00, Kosli 25.60, Ladwa 25.00, Loharu 22.00, Mahendragarh 26.10, Meham 24.10, Mullana 29.20, Nalwa 27.50, Nangli Chaudhary 24.50, Narnaul 23.70, Narnaul 25.70, Narwana 27.00, Nilokheri 26.30, Nuh 18.70 and Palwal 30.12.

Till 11 am the turnout in Panchkula was 14.70, Panipat City 19.60, Panipat Rural 21.70, Padaudi 18.10, Pehwa 21.10, Prithla 28.40, Punahana 28.50, Pundri 23.90 percent voting took place in Radaur, 25.90 percent in Rai, 20.00 percent in Rania, 24.90 percent in Ratia, 17.70 percent in Rewari, 18.50 percent in Rohtak, 26.00 percent in Sadhaura, 28.50 percent in Safidon, 22.30 percent in Samalkha, 23.00 percent in Shahabad, 19.00 percent in Sirsa, 15.00 percent in Sohana, 15.90 percent in Sonipat, 26.00 percent in Thanesar, 20.20 percent in Tigaon, 26.00 percent in Tohna, 23.00 percent in Tashem, 25.00 percent in Uncha Kalan, 24.30 percent in Uklana and 25.80 percent in Yamunanagar.

Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Aggarwal said that out of the 2.04 crore registered voters, 1.07 crore are men, 95.78 lakh are women, and 467 are transgender voters. 5.25 lakh young voters aged 18 to 19 years and 1.49 lakh Divyang voters who are voting for the first time will also exercise their franchise.

Apart from this, there are 2.31 lakh voters above 85 years of age and 8,821 voters above 100 years of age. The total number of working voters is 1.09 lakh.

Agarwal said that a total of 1,031 candidates have entered the fray in the state assembly elections, including 930 men and 101 women. Among these candidates, 464 are independent candidates.

This time the main contest in the elections is likely to be between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main opposition party Congress, although the Jannayak Janata Party-Azad Samaj Party alliance, the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance, and the Aam Aadmi Party are also in the fray.

The election results of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections will be declared on October 8.
