HC Judge : Criminal justice process requires thorough reforms

Hyderabad, Dec 11 : Telangana High Court Judge Justice B.Vijaysen Reddy has strongly felt that Criminal Justice process required thorough reforms while highlighting the issues involved in Sec 41 A of CrPC.

Speaking after inaugurating Master’s and advanced diploma courses in Criminal law and Forensic Science at the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), a National Law University here, Justice Reddy touched upon various stages of the criminal justice process starting from Arrest including the recent amendment to Sec 41 A, chargesheets and other impediments in admitting the evidence in a criminal trial, the law University said in a release here on Saturday.

He expressed his anguish over the delay in disposing of cases and the predicaments of police officers in appearing during the court process.
The Judge proposed that special courts may be established to try cases of people belonging to minority communities, women and children which would help in speedy disposal of cases.

Justice Reddy highlighted the importance of forensic science by stating that in cases of circumstantial evidence, forensic science helps the judiciary in conviction.

The inaugural was attended by University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Faizan Mustafa, Registrar, Prof V Balakista Reddy, Truth Laboratories Founder Dr. K.P.C.Gandhi, faculty members and students.
