Shimla, Oct 7 : The ruling BJP in the state is relying on green horns and novices as it prepares to face a tough challenge from the opposition Congress for Mandi Parliamentary, Jubbal Kotkhai, Fetapur and Arki Assembly constituency bye election schedule to be hold on October 30, it was reported on Thursday.
Party spokesperson Mr Ganesh Dutt confirmed that Brigadier Khushal Thakur who participated in the Kargil Operation will be party’s candidate and will be up against former MP and widow of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Ms Pratibha Singh in the Mandi Lok Sabha seat.
Brigadier Khushal Thakur is likely to be file his nomination papers on Thursday at Mandi as October 8 is last date of filling nomination, Mr Dutt confirmed.
The party is also relying on their woman candidate, Ms Neelam Saraik, former Zila Parishad member and political adversary of former MLA late Mr Narendra Bragta for the Jubbal Kotkhai Assembly seat against four times former MLA Rohit Thakur.
The party also decided to pit a Zila Parishad member Baldev Thakur for the Fetepur Assembly seat against Bhawani Singh Pathania son of former Congress MLA late Mr Sujjan Singh Pathania.
The BJP has also decided to again test former candidate Mr Rattan Pall who had lost to former chief minister late Virbhadra Singh in the 2017 Assembly Election for the Arki Assembly seat.
Earlier BJP has held on to the Mandi LS and Jubbal Kotkhai Assembly seat while Fatepur and Arki Assembly seats went to the Congress.
