Hurling of kerosene bottles : 14 arrested in 11 cases, says DGP

Chennai, Sep 26 : A total of 14 people were arrested in 11

cases registered following hurling of petrol and kerosone filled

bottles at the residences and properties of BJP and RSS

functionaries in Tamil Nadu.

Director General of Police C.Sylendra Babu, in a release,here

today said a total of 19 criminal cases were registered in the

wake of hurling kerosene-filled bottles at houses, vehicles and

in commercial establishments in Coimbatore, Erode, Madurai,

Salem, Dindigul, Tuticorin and Kanniyakumari districts since

the NIA raids on PFI premises and itsleaders on Thursday last

for alleged terror funding, money laundering, for organising

training camps and radicalising people to join proscribed

organisations.

The DGP said 19 cases were registered and after investigations

14 people were arrested in respect of 11 cases.

Though the DGP did not divulge to which outfit the arrested

belonged to, their names were announced.

He said two people–Jesuraj and Ilias–were arrested for

hurling kersone-filled bottles at vehicles in Kuniyamuthur

area, while three people–Mohd Rafiq (26), Malik alias Sadiq

Pasha (32) and Rameez Raja (32)–were arrested for similar

offences at Pollachi.

The DGP said two people–Syed Ali (42) and Khader

Hussain (33)–were arrested for hurling a kersone

bottle at an house at Ammapettai in Salem district,

while two others–Samsudeen (32) and Hussain

for committing similar offences in Madurai city.

While one person, Sikandar (22), was arrested for hurling

kerosone bottled at a car nd a two-wheeler, four people–

Saddam Hussain, Ashique, Jaffer and Khaleel Rahman–

were arrested for attempting to set fire a timber shop

in Erode district, the DGP said.
