India tour of South Africa on for Tests and ODIs only

Kolkata, Dec 4 : The Indian cricket board and its counterpart in South Africa have come to an agreement in which India will play three Tests and three ODIs on their tour of South Africa later this month.

The first Test will start on December 26, media reports said on Saturday.

“The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date,” the media report quoting Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah as saying.

” The BCCI confirms India’s tour of SA to go ahead, but only for Tests and ODIs, ” the report added.

The confirmation happened from both the boards – BCCI and CSA – (Cricket South Africa), which were deliberating over the fate of the tour which has run into trouble because of the outbreak of

Omicron virus, a variant of Covid-19, in the African countries, the reports said.

They have decided that the four T20s will be played at a later date.
