Is ‘one should be ashamed’ unparliamentary?

Mumbai, Aug 26 : Maharshtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar’s office on Friday called for records to check if the term “one should be ashamed” was unparliamentary, sources at his office said.

Narvekar on the last day of state assembly monsoon session Thursday, said, he would go through records to check if the term was unparliamentary after treasury bench took objection to it being used by former minister Aaditya Thackeray.

The speaker announce this after Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray, during his attack on the Eknath Shinde government on malnutrition and problems faced by tribals in the state, said “one should be ashamed” on the plight of tribals even after 75 years of Independence and the country having a tribal President.

Responding to this Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar objected to the term.

Narvekar said he took note of the objection and would check records to see if it was unparliamentary.

Narvekar made the statement citing Item Number 357 in the list of words and expressions held as unparliamentary or otherwise.
