Jaishankar exchanges New Year greetings with Bhutanese FM

New Delhi, Jan 5 : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday exchanged New Year greetings with the Bhutanese Foreign Minister Tandi Dorji, and discussed the progress in the bilateral development partnership.

In a tweet, the EAM said the unique bilateral relationship “stands even stronger amidst the Corona challenge”.

“A warm conversation and New Year greetings exchange with @FMBhutan.

“Assessed the continuing progress in our Development Partnership. Our unique relationship stands even stronger amidst the Corona challenge.”

India supplied anti-Covid vaccines to Bhutan besides other medical assistance to tackle the coronavirus, while Thimphu in turn also helped India during the second wave in India last year with supply of liquid oxygen among other assistance.

In December, Bhutan conferred its highest civilian award on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the “unconditional friendship” and support that India had extended to Bhutan over the years and particularly during the Covid pandemic.
