Ranchi, Dec 18 : Jharkhand’s Food and Civil Supplies and Finance Minister Dr Rameshwar Oraon on Friday said paddy procurement centers have been increased in the state to ensure that the farmers get the Minimum Selling Price (MSP) for their produce.
Talking to reporters here, he said that in some of the districts the number of these centers have been doubled, while in some others it has been increased by one and a half times.
He said that under the present government the farmers are getting 50 per cent of the money as immediate payment, while under the previous regime the farmers were not paid for months.
To a query he said centers will be opened in places where currently no paddy procurement centers are functioning.
He said that the MSP on paddy has been fixed at Rs 1868 over which the state government is providing a bonus of Rs 182.
Over the agitation currently being staged by the candidates of police exam, he said that a high level committee under cabinet minister Badal has been formed to look into the matter.
He added that candidates who have cleared exams of other departments are also on agitation and he will be raising the matter with the Chief Minister.
If no irregularities were committed in the exam, he will make sure that children of Jharkhand get justice, he added.
