Kejriwal dole out poll promises in Goa, 80 pc job for local if voted to power

Panaji, Sep 21 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced various welfare measures ahead of the assembly election in Goa and said if AAP comes to power it will reserve 80 percent private jobs for the locals.

Addressing a press conference around 16 km away from the capital city at Mapusa, Mr Kejriwal said, “eighty percent of jobs, including in the private sector, will be reserved for Goan youths. We will pass a law making it mandatory for private industries to employ 80 per cent of workers from local people,” he said.

He said APP will also provide an unemployment allowance of Rs 3000 per month till they find the job and a remuneration of Rs 5000 to the families dependent upon the mining and tourism industry till these sectors are normalized.

“Skills University would be set up in the state like in Delhi where youth would be imparted training to make them employment-ready,” he added.

The Delhi Chief Minister said, if the party came to power only the deserving candidates would get jobs in the state government.

This was his second visit to the state within a span of two months. In his first visit Mr kejrwial had promised free electricity up to 300 units per month to the people of Goa of the party voted to power.

Assembly election in Goa is due in February next year, which is currently ruled by the BJP.

Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for starting a door-step delivery of services in Goa, Kejriwal said, “He is copying what was being done in Delhi.

“As per our scheme, government officers go to the doorstep of people with the required facilities. People don’t have to move out of their homes,” he added.

Kejriwal arrived in Goa on Monday to boost the morale of the party workers ahead of assembly polls due in the early next year.

AAP would be contesting the assembly elections in Goa for the second time. In 2017 assembly elections it could not win a single seat.
