Korean sci-fi series trailer promises ‘The Silent Sea’ will be thrilling

Mumbai, Dec 11 : The first official trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Korean sci-fi series “The Silent Sea” has intrigued audiences.

The series is set in the future, when given the global climatic condition, earth is expected to run out of food and water.

Yoon Jae is a soldier for the space agency. He is selected for a team to travel to the moon. Their mission is to find a mysterious sample from an abandoned research station.

During the perilous 24-hour mission, they try to retrieve samples from a research facility, but one by one, the members start ending up dead.
The series will begin streaming on Christmas eve. The trailer gives glimpses into the bone-chilling thriller based on the short film “The Sea of Tranquility”, which was written and directed by “The Silent Sea” director himself, Choi Hang-Yong.

The series will expand on the film’s premise, focussing on a dystopic future wherein space travel will turn essential due to climatic catastrophe.

The project stars Gong Yoo, who previously starred in “Train to Busan” and the hit Netflix series “Squid Game”. Yoo stars as the team leader for the lunar mission. The trailer also gives a glimpse of each of the core cast.

Jung-Woo sung is executive producer of the series. Other cast members include Bae Doona, Lee Joon, Kim Sun-young, Lee Mu-saeng, and Lee Sung-wook.

Netflix announced the series in December of 2019.

The Silent Sea follows the overwhelming success of “Squid Game”, which premiered on the streaming platform earlier this year.

Netflix will debut all 8 episodes of The Silent Sea series starting December 24.
