Lucknow, Oct 13 : Taking a jibe at the opposition for instigating hatred among the public towards the government, senior Uttar Pradesh minister and government spokesperson, Sidharth Nath Singh termed the much-publicised opposition demonstration in Lakhimpur Kheri as a ‘flop show’.

He said ” people in the state are well aware of the fact that the opposition is just engaged in spreading fear and lies for their petty political gains.”

The fact that handful of crowd could be gathered in the name of ‘opposition unity’ testified that the public came to realise that the opposition traded in politics of lies and lost support of masses.

“Their ‘super flop show’ at Lakhimpur today was another example of the failed conspiracy to put the entire state into a turmoil, said Singh here on Wednesday.

Sidharth Nath Singh further asserted that the opposition leaders, desperate to regain lost political ground, are solely engaged in political stunts instead of helping the people. “None of the locals came out to support the movement. The reason is that every person has himself witnessed the series of measures taken by the Yogi government in ensuring fair investigation and justice in the Lakhimpur case.”

Calling out Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Singh said the former has time and again tried to disturb tranquility of Uttar Pradesh instead of understanding the pain and sufferings of the common people. “Congress is using the Lakhimpur Kheri issue to revive itself in the state ahead of polls,” he added.

The UP government spokesperson further added that “It is ironic that Priyanka Gandhi, who had been too vocal on the issue lately, was not even allowed to speak. Probably, she also would have been shocked to realise that people in Uttar Pradesh will no longer fall prey to opposition’s foul play.”
