Srinagar, Oct 21 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday hinted at Pakistan’s involvement in the deadly Ganderbal attack that claimed the lives of seven workers from an infrastructure company and left several others injured.

He emphasized that attempts by the neighboring country to disrupt peace and target innocent civilians have not ceased.

“The threat of terrorism, originating from the neighboring country, still persists. The neighboring country, through terror elements and various means, aims to weaken our democratic values. There has been no end to attempts to harm our social fabric, disrupt peace, and kill innocent civilians,” Sinha said during his address at the Police Commemoration Day event held at the Armed Police Complex in Zewan, Srinagar.

The event was also attended by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Sinha stressed the need for a decisive response to terrorism and urged the police, army, and central security forces to show no leniency or hesitation in the fight against terrorism originating from across the border.

He expressed confidence that security forces will act firmly against every terrorist and their supporters.

“Your readiness, capability, and spirit of sacrifice are the key reasons for the security of Jammu and Kashmir, both in the present and in the future,” Sinha added.

He said that over the past few years, a clear policy has been in place for dealing with terrorists and criminals in Kashmir: to protect the innocent but leave no room for the guilty to escape.

“This commitment must continue moving forward. It is through this that we will uproot terrorism and safeguard the lives and property of civilians,” Sinha said.

The Lieutenant Governor also recalled the cowardly attacks on soldiers and civilians in the Jammu region, noting that they have not been forgotten.

“Yesterday’s incident serves as a reminder of the urgency of the situation. Those responsible for these heinous acts will face consequences and pay with their lives for the crimes they have committed,” he added.
